Gus has 30 years in the industry in the UK and overseas. His work is predominantly in resolving disputes and contentious issues. He has acted in over 250 successful Adjudications as Party Representative. Gus is an RICS accredited Mediatior, a Panel Adjudicator and Expert Witness. He is an advocate of dispute avoidance. Away from the office, Gus enjoys socialising, theatre and the Edinburgh Festival.
A Martin Vevers FRICS FCIArb
Martin is approaching 40 years in the industry. Martin Acts as Contract Administrator, Expert Witness and as Party Representative in Disputes including arbitration. He is also an RICS Accredited Mediator. Martin's particular expertise in stonework, conservation and restoration projects is unsurpassed. Among Martin's many extra curricular activities, he is a keen apiarist and gets a buzz out of keeping bees.
James Beckwith MA MSc LLM FRICS FCIArb
James has over 15 years valuable experience in the construction industry in the UK and overseas. He has worked on many complex projects and is a contractual claims specialist. James has particular experience of recovering distressed projects and is an advocate of dispute avoidance. He participates in the more formal dispute resolution processes when necessary. James has two young children which keep him busy away from the office.
Susan Hanley FRICS
Susan has almost 30 years experience in the construction industry in the UK and overseas and is a M&E Specialist. She understands the intricacies of complex engineering and is a skilled negotiator when it comes to resolving contractual issues and final accounts. Susan is also a very experienced lecturer and RICS mentor, prividing training to all levels of professionals via the academy. Susan has a busy family life, a love of animals and enjoys spending time in Italy.
Len C H Bunton FRICS FCIArb HonFRIAS
Len is one of the UK's most appointed and distinguished Adjudicators. His career has been dedicated to preventing or resolving disputes, and rescuing businesses. He has mentored many practitioners over the years and enjoys delivering training seminars and engaging with participants. Len lobbies and influences government on improving payment procedures and remains a force for good in the industry. On the rare occasions when Len is not immersed in his work, he enjoys his family, travelling, and is a self-confessed golf-nut.
Gordon D. Carroll BSc Hons
Head of Planning
Gordon has been with Fortis since 2015. Having graduated in Building Engineering in 2000, he rose up the ranks with Contractors and was a former site manager. He has spent over a decade in project planning, and regularly assists Clients in claim preparation and in Adjudication submissions requiring complex delay and critical path analysis. He also takes on the planning role for a number of small clients from pre-commencement through to completion. Gordon is currently undergoing CIArb training. Spending time with his young family, which also keeps him fit, is Gordon's favourite passtime.
Victoria Pearson BA Hons MBA PhD
Victoria was instrumental in establishing Fortis with Gus. She is responsible for all aspects of financial management and administration of the business, and keeps the machinery functioning smoothly. Victoria also assists in Contractual Claims where her forensic accountancy skills are put to good use in ascertaining overheads and examining costs incurred in damages claims. Victoria enjoys travel and has a particular love of Spain - climate, cuisine and the Mediterranean lifestyle.
